Material use of ligno-cellulosic residues from biogas plants for wood-based materials

Term: 04.2012 - 04.2014

The main goal of the project is the development of a new process to use the residues from biogas plants for the wood material industry. The raw material used for this process is digestate from the biogas production plant of the project partner BENAS. The digestate is cleaned with a patented treatment of the project partner Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Stoffnutzung (ANAStrip®-treatment) to remove the inorganic nitrogen components (ammoniacal nitrogen). The nitrogen is absorbed in an ammonia solution and can be used as concentrated mineral fertilizer. The project partner Glunz is going to use the digestate for the experimental production of particleboards and medium-density fibreboards. The nova-Institute is the project leader and will be responsible for the techno-economic evaluation of the process.

Cooperation partner: Glunz AG (Meppen), Benas GmbH (Vorwerk), Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Stoffnutzung mbH (Halle)
